God’s Unpredictable Paths

God’s blessing is not always found in the most obvious place.

I have experienced it in my life.

The Lord led me to a Public University after spending two years in one of the most prominent Christian Universities. It didn’t make sense in the natural, and from the outside, it looked like I was being “demoted,” but I was beyond blessed. It took me a while to see the blessing hiding behind what seemed to be a setback. But the blessings were all over. The Lord led me to beautiful people, a great coach, excellent classes, the perfect job, housing, schedule, and so much more that I couldn’t have gotten in my previous private Christian school because of its busy athletic calendar.

I had that happen in Louisiana when, after a lot of frustration, I decided to trade my “cool” Assistant Tennis coach job for a regular assistantship, where I was technically going to make less money… but little did I know I was going to have a TON of extra time to study, friendships and a fantastic RA job that provided me with housing and food on campus on top of the assistantship! The Lord takes all the Glory.

It happened to me when I met my husband, and he wasn’t the most obvious choice because he wasn’t in full-time Ministry or talked a lot like other guys, but his actions have proven that he is a godlier man than many in the forefront of ministry and the ideal match for me.

It also happened recently regarding my kid's schooling; after praying for a long time and struggling, thinking that God only had ONE way to school our children (and that way could only be private school or homeschooling). Still, none of those were the right fit for us now. He then opened the doors for my kids to go to a local public school; they couldn’t be happier. They are able to take the bus close by, they‘ve made good friends; they go together, have great teachers, and not too much homework, among other things… we’ve been so blessed since we made that choice. Still, it took us a long time to see that God was NOT found in the “most obvious choice”; as a matter of fact, most of the time, he is unpredictable, and he works in unique ways for each circumstance.

Isaiah 55:8-9 states:

For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Where is the Lord leading you now? What does he want you to do?  Don’t put him in a box or “assume” you know what he is going to say… he will most likely surprise you!
